PGCKC primarily hires summer students as coaches from June through August to help coach our paddling programs. The rest of the year, a Program Co-ordinator and a lot of dedicated volunteers and Board of Directors keep the club operating and preparing for the next season.

Staff Opportunities - flexible roles, training provided, maybe even the occaisonal granola bar!

  • Safety Boat Driver: drive your boat or ours on the lake and follow the kids. If they fall in the water, the coach will help pull them out onto the boat - ferry the kids/boats back to shore as needed. PCOC Required. Discount Code available if you dont already have your PCOC.
  • Beach Supervisor: hang out at the picnic tables and supervise the gear and any child that needs a break from paddling to warm up or snack up. 
  • Program Assistant: provide basic support to the coaches and paddlers, including carrying gear, assisting with land-based games, helping with warm-up & cool-down stretches. If you know how to paddle, you can follow along with the paddlers.
  • Assistant Coach: help the coaches run the programs, activities, carry gear, check lifejackets, teach paddling skills, have fun, be a cool role model. PCOC is an asset. Discount Code available.
  • Coach: help the head coach run the programs, activities, carry gear, check lifejackets, teach paddling skills, have fun, be a cool role model. Training Provided. PCOC is an asset. Discount Code available.
  • Program Co-ordinator: plan the paddling programs, liase with CKBC, work with the Board to write grants, assist with planning for the Budget.
  • Safety Officer:  enforce the Club Safety Plan, maintain the equipment, provide on water support. PCOC is required.
  • Club Administrator: work with the Program Co-Ordinator to plan the season, hire staff, manage the website and registration system, liase with CKBC and the Board, write grants, assist with planning for the Budget.
  • Other Roles: writing Policies, updating procedural documents, organizing events & races, helping with social media, taking photos / videos, building a path to the lake, doing security checks (esp over winter), writing witty things on the website, filing our Annual Society documents, helping with payroll, creating crafts.
  • Treasurer: assist with the book-keeping, organize fund-raisers, assist with planning for the Budget and writing grants
  • Secretary: keep our Board of Directors organized, take notes during the meetings, assist with digital library, write correspondence
  • President: lead the club towards the vision by empowering the staff, volunteers and paddlers to reach the mission and achieve the goals.
