Our programs run June, July and August at West Lake.

 

Our Program Fees include use of our boats, paddles, boat safety equipment, lifejackets, basic paddler insurance thru Canoe Kayak BC, and membership in our Club.

 

2022 Try-It Days

 

We offer all kids the opportunity to explore the world of paddling thru a free 15min paddling experience. This is a great way to understand what a canoe or kayak can feel like and spark the pleasure of paddling. These programs are held at the Lake and at the Pool.

 

  • Cost Free. All Equipment Provided.

  • No Prerequistes required, but basic swimming skills are encouraged

 

2022 Local Youth Groups

 

Custom paddling sessions designed for local youth-based community groups looking to include an outdoor sport activity in their program. Groups up to 8 children, ages 7-18 years old, plus their leader(s) can come for one-time paddles or a multi-week sessions. 

 

  • Cost Based on Program type & available funding

  • No Prerequistes required, but basic swimming skills are encouraged

 

2022 Learn to Paddle

 

This 1 hour program is great for kids aged 7-18 years old who are new to paddling and are curious about how much fun it can be to spend the summer on the water. Paddlers learn water and boat safety skills and are introduced to basic paddle strokes in canoes & kayaks.

 

  • Cost $25 per paddler.

  • No Prerequisites required, but basic swimming skills are encouraged.

  • Usually Friday evenings

2022 Fun ADVENTURE Paddle

 

Kids can sign up for a 1, 2 or 3 hour Paddle Sessions. This program incorporates games and activities to build on existing paddling skills and have fun exploring the shoreline (1hr) and across open water (2hr, 3hr). Kids will develop their confidence, and endurance in paddling canoes and kayaks.

 

  • Cost per paddler: $25 for 1 hour, $35 for 2 hours, and $45 for 3 hours. 

  • Paddlers should have a basic knowledge of paddling and be comfortable swimming whilst wearing a lifejacket.

  • Book this session by request - min. participants 4, max participants 8.

 

2022 Learn-to-Train

 

Commitment: 2 hours per day for 6 consecutive weeks. Saturday 3:30-5:30pm. Total 12 hours.

 

Dates: June 11 2022 -July 16 2022

 

Requirements: Paddlers do not need to have experience paddling our "banana" boats but should have basic Learn to Paddle Skills.

 

Paddlers 7-16 years old looking to develop their basic paddling skills and add speed, strength and endurance, will enjoy this Learn to Train paddling program. All paddlers will learn to paddle canoes and kayaks. Paddlers will navigate their boats in open water, thru wake and enjoy games and paddling challenges. 

 

  • Cost $132 per paddler. All equipment included.

  • This program is for the recreational paddler, those interested in advancing to the Train-to-Train program, and those interested in racing in Regattas including the BC Summer Games 2024 in Maple Ridge

 

2022 Train-to-Train

Requirements: Paddlers are expected to be comfortable paddling our "banana" boats (or similar), able to paddle continuously for 45 minutes, and paddle in all conditions.

 

Paddlers 12-16 years old looking to expand on their paddling skills, speed, strength and endurance will enjoy this Train to Train paddling program. All paddlers will further develop their skills in canoes and kayaks. Paddlers will navigate their boats in open water, thru wake and enjoy games and paddling challenges.

 

 

  • Cost $TBD per paddler. All equipment included.

  • This program is for the recreational paddler, athletes looking to continue their sport development, and those interested in racing in Regattas including the BC Summer Games 2024 in Maple Ridge

 

2022 BC Summer Games Camp (K1/C1)

 

Commitment: 4 hours per day for 7 consecutive weeks. Saturday 11am-3pm. Total 28 hours.

 

Dates: June 4 2022 - July 16 2022

 

Requirements: Athletes who have pased the pre-qualification activities to be on the BC Summer Games Team.

  • Paddlers must have passed the pre-qualification activities which includes experience paddling a sprint kayak and canoe.

 

2022 BC Summer GAMES CAMP TEAM PADDLE (K2/C2/C4)

 

Commitment: 6 hours each day for 5 consecutive days. Monday - Friday. Total 30 hours. 

 

Dates: July 4 2022 - July 8 2022

 

Requirements: Athletes who have pased the pre-qualification activities to be on the BC Summer Games Team.

2022 Family Paddle

 

Looking for a fun way to spend an evening at the lake? Come out for a 2 hour canoe paddling session which includes basic paddle stroke instruction and a guided tour around the shoreline and into open water to explore this beautiful lake. 

 

  • Cost $100 per Family (2 adults and 2 children)

  • Basic water and boat safety and paddling strokes will be covered.

  • Includes basic paddling insurance.

  • Not recommended for children/adults with no swimming or lifejacket experience.

2022 PARENTS CAN PADDLE

 

If your child is registered in a Learn to Train, BC Summer Games Camp, or Fun Paddle, then you too can paddle at West Lake using a PGCKC recreational canoe, recreational kayak or bring your own boat.

 

  • Cost $50 per adult paddler. Includes basic paddling insurance.

  • Valid for the entire season but only on the same day/time as your child's program

  • Limited Boat and Lifejacket availability - must be booked in advance of paddle day
